Mouthful – Smart Talk About Food – Wine & Farming – KRCB 90.9 & 91.1 FM
Mouthful launched on November 2, 1995, as a one-hour talk show on KRCB FM, then in its infancy. The program is now in its 21st year and has received four James Beard Nominations for Electronic Journalism.
It airs live on Sunday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. and enjoys a long life as a free podcast on iTunes, at krcb.org and now here. We have listeners around the world who enjoy the show in real time via their computers.
We think of Mouthful as a conversation around a dinner table, so pour yourself a glass of wine and join us Sunday evenings at 6.
Over the years, guests have included Julia Child, Jacques Pepin, Eleanor Coppola, Coppola’s winemaking team, Alice Waters, filmmaker Les Blank, musician Boz Scaggs, Marcy Smothers, Clark Wolf, Lou Preston, John Ash, Steve Garner and scores of others.
Our discussions with winemakers, farmers, gardeners, cookbook authors, writers, photographers, filmmakers, nutritionists, chefs, restaurateurs, and environmentalists take unexpected, surprising, and delicious turns as we explore how we eat, drink, grow and celebrate our food, and feed each other. We take the time to get to know our guests, we go beyond sound bites, and we look at food and farming in the larger context of our lives. We’re sometimes political, always passionate, sometimes serious, often lighthearted, and occasionally even silly (the episode “Doughnuts & Hole,” for example, featured guests making doughnuts in the studio, with occasional musical breaks by the mid-1990s band Hole).
If you eat, you’ll enjoy Mouthful.
