Luana, an Evening of Aloha, takes place on a Saturday evening at one of the most beautiful venues in Sonoma County, Santa Rosa Junior College’s star property, Shone Farm, with its spectacular 360 degree view.
Doors open at 5:30; dinner begins at 6 p.m., with the dance concert following at 7 p.m. The dinner menu features Shoyu chicken, fried rice, mac salad, spring mix salad, dessert, and beverages, including coffee, tea, sparkling water, sparkling cider, and iced tea. Kani’olu, a local Hawaiian group, will entertain with their island tunes during dinner.
Faith Ako, Sonoma County’s treasured Hawaiian songbird, headlines the evening’s program. There will be dancing, too, of course, by members of Halau Hula Na Pua O Ka La’akea of Marin and Sonoma, under the direction of Kumu Hula Shawna Alapa’i.
Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 if you’d like a fresh lei. Cost at the door will be $40 but lei must be pre-ordered. Tickets are available at luana.yapsody.com
The event is co-sponsored by Hui Pulama Mau, SRJC’s Hawai’i Community Organization. It is a benefit for Halau Hula Na Pua O Ka La’akea.
